Another Mystery Solved: Needle in a Haystack
by John Anello I was called called in to a shop for a complaint of erratic bucking and engine cutout on a 2000 Honda Passport (Figure 1) with a 3.2L engine. The tech had already replaced the crank and cam sensors and the PCM. The engine would start up fine with no problems, but once the vehicle was placed in gear and accelerated it would buck, or just cut out as if the ignition switch were turned off.
